The time is NOW! Grand Final - Wednesday 20th Feb 8:20pm

MINX vs Hot Custard

1st vs 3rd (regular season standings)

After taking out the division two championship just one season ago, Minx have continued their fairytale, by taking the division one minor premiership and playing in their second consecutive grand final!

This season sees Minx who finished on top of the ladder with only two losses all season, pitted against rivals and perennial division one finalists Hot Custard. This match is set to be close, tough and intense throughout!

In their earlier meeting this season, Minx ran out narrow victors, winning by 5 goals in a rugged affair. Their opponents of late however, have been playing some excellent netball, winning their last three games quite convincingly (Smurfs, Kid Robots, Cougars) and will be full of confidence entering the Grand Final against Minx.

Playing without star GS/C Kathryn Kerwick (ankle injury) will test Minx, however their depth, and the return of Firball Firbs will give them a mighty boost in the GA position. Minx also defeated Hot Custard without stellar GK Laura Simpson in their last encounter - and with Simpson returning for the Grand Final, Minx look even stronger in defence than they were in their last encounter.

It will be an intense midfield encounter, AB Bonnici, Melsta Whiteside, Mish and Sarah Emanuel will have to be sharp, quick and on their games! The wings will play an important role in driving the ball forward and also slowing down their opponents drives!

AB will need to continue her aggressive attacking role and will stretch Hot Custard's Wing Defence with her driving runs forward of the centre and creative passes into attack. Melsta will have to do what she's done all season - be everywhere and consantly create with her passing. Mish and Sarah will need to display their unique ability to play in multiple roles. Mish will control the Wing Defence position and commandeer drives out of defence into attack, while Sarah will show her versatility and lightning quick interception skills by stepping back into goal defence for patches.

Minx will look to exploit their unique combination of height and athleticism in attack, with Firball (height and athleticism) and Puddsta (speed and quickness) playing in attack. Kasey "Jump Farken" Gaffney will also look to have a big game, and help Laura Simpson out in defence. Minx defence have been extremely stingy of late, thwarting their opponents' many attempts at scoring, due to the excellent stopping skills of Simpson and Gaffney. With Sarah Emanuel being able to step in and play one of the GD or GK positions, the Minx have depth all over the court, and will be looking to win their second consecutive (and their first ever division one) grand final!

Come on down for the 8:20 match at Melbourne High School and get behind your Minx as they look to close the curtain on another super season! Let's go out with a mighty and victorious bang!
